Audio log 1
To trigger the first message, try any one of the following:
Talk to Old Lady Gibson at Gibson Scrap Yard. Note: If you've already gone through her conversation options, you will have talk to someone else to trigger this message.
Repeatedly talk to an NCR Trooper standing outside of HELIOS One. You can also gain the HELIOS One quest, and talk to several Troopers inside to trigger Log 1.
Talk to Doctor Henry at Jacobstown about his experience with the Enclave.
Talk to Colonel Moore for the first assignment in the quest in For the Republic, Part 2.
Talk to Ignacio Rivas at HELIOS One about Archimedes and The Brotherhood of Steel
Talk to Torres, the quartermaster of the Brotherhood of Steel armory in Hidden Valley.
Talk to Thomas Hildern, director of the OSI at Camp McCarran.
Talk to Michael Angelo at Michael Angelo's Workshop on The Strip.
Talk to Mr. House about the Brotherhood of Steel.
Talk to Apprentice Watkins about Helios one.
Talk to Quartermaster Mayes about supplies in the quest, Restoring Hope.
When the message is triggered, you will be turned to face ED-E and the file will begin playing:
“
Subject E: Diagnosis complete. Begin Recording. My name is Whitley...
”
—ED-E, Audio log 1
After this message has been triggered, the quest will be added to your quest log and ED-E won't react to any of the keywords until at least nine in-game days have passed.
Audio log 2
To trigger the second message let nine in-game days pass and try any one of the following:
Talk to Old Lady Gibson at Gibson Scrap Yard. Note: If you've already gone through her conversation options, you will have talk to someone else to trigger this message.
Talk to Ignacio Rivas in the NW corner of HELIOS One near Fantastic and ask him about ARCHIMEDES.
Listen to the brotherhood scribe teach his class.
Speak with Veronica Santangelo while on the quest I Could Make You Care and after accessing Father Elijah's terminal.
When trying to gain the Brotherhood of Steel trust (without the help of Veronica), a keyword is spoken after killing or convincing the NCR ranger to leave Hidden Valley.
When you first talk to Michael Angelo on his workshop at the New Vegas Strip. Talk about his "lack of inspiration" and choose the medical answer. (It will still work even if the requirements aren't fulfilled).
Complete Still in the Dark, leave Bunker L1, and return again after waiting a few days. A BoS Scribe will thank you and tell you of a footlocker stashed with recharged energy ammo. If you try to talk to this BoS Scribe again, ED-E will immediately play the message.
Talk to Quartermaster Mayes at Camp Forlorn Hope about locating supplies sent from Helios One for the Restoring Hope quest.
Talk to Doctor Henry at Jacobstown about his previous employment with the Enclave.
Talk to Watkins about her parents and her decision.
Talk to Dr. Hildern at Camp McCarran about the quest There Stands the Grass.
Sometimes just hanging around with the Brotherhood of Steel in Hidden Valley will trigger the event.
Talk to a Brotherhood of Steel paladin around Hidden Valley and they will proclaim they haven't seen this type of eyebot before and it will trigger.
Take ED-E to Vault 22.
Talk to Colonel Moore for the Brotherhood assignment in the quest in For the Republic, Part 2.
Talk to Quartermaster Mayes about supplies in the quest, Restoring Hope.
Just like when the first message is triggered, you will be turned to face ED-E and the file will begin playing:
“
Download complete. Begin recording. Navarro outpost scientists...
”
—ED-E, Audio log 2
Note: You may have to go to a different person than the person you originally talked to in order to trigger ED-E's next log.
Unknown Log
Talk to Senior Knight Lorenzo in Hidden Valley.
Talk to Quartermaster Mayes at Camp Forlorn Hope about retrieving NCR Dogtag.
Additional Log NotesEdit Additional Log Notes sectionEdit
The logs can be triggered in any of the listed locations, such as activating Log 2 at Jacobstown instead of at HELIOS One.
Other possible keywords have been reported as being: Enclave, Navarro, Poseidon, HELIOS, and ARCHIMEDES.
If Lorenzo has already been killed as a result of Mr. House's The House Always Wins (Part V) waiting two days after talking to Ignacio Rivas and talking to ED-E will trigger April Martimer to contact you without having to travel to the REPCONN Headquarters.
A way to incorporate another companion to help in this is to have Arcade Gannon present, as his personal quest being undertaken will result in many of the key words being spoken.
Using the "wait" feature will also speed up ED-E's speech events. Use the wait feature in increments of 1 hour inside Old Lady Gibson's house and after that anywhere else in the world.
It is possible to get both Logs 1 and 2 from Doctor Henry in Jacobstown.
It is possible to initiate a log by talking to Mayes, the quartermaster at Camp Forlorn Hope.
It is possible to be contacted by Brotherhood and the Followers without obtaining all three logs.
